This cultivar of the Shining Sumac has only 5 leaflets. The thick and glossy dark green foliage lives up to the name Shining Sumac and is a real attention getter. In late fall the foliage turns a brilliant scarlet to burgundy. White clusters of flowers appear in late August. The plant is more compact and a slower grower than the species and can slowly colonize. Use as a specimen or for massing. Attracts birds, butterflies and other pollinators. Deer resistant.
