Rounded, multi-stemmed, upright-spreading, deciduous shrub. Features aromatic white flowers arranged in flat-topped clusters in spring. Clusters of berries, change color as they ripen from light pink to deep pink to blue to purplish-black. Berries, highly acidic but edible, attract birds and other wildlife. Dark green foliage turns an attractive maroon to dark red-purple in fall.
