The first leaves are purple, then new shoots produce foliage that is rose-pink, mottled with deeper red-purple blotches. The colors mature to a deep reddish-purple. Plant has thorns, so place accordingly. Small, yellow flowers produce small, red, persistent fruit. Deer resistant.
