Rounded, upright, deciduous shrub. Blooms in spring about 1-2 weeks before common lilac, with fragrant, deep maroon-purple buds opening to single, deep violet flowers. Foliage is dark green with little fall color. Very easy to grow and tolerant. Growth rate is moderate.
