A long-blooming native Ohio aster for the woodland edge or partially shaded pollinator garden. Delicate, small 1/3" pinkish-white flowers with rosy centers. Attractive to a variety of native bees, beneficial wasps, butterflies, and skippers. The rhizomatous plants grow 1 -4' tall and may form small colonies. Tolerates some drought but will flourish in moist soils. (Syn. Symphyotrichum lateriflorum)
Yearly Care Instructions- Remove spent stems in late winter. Performs well in sun to partial shade, with regular watering. A spring compost layer supports healthy growth.
Trimming Instructions- Cut back old growth in early spring. Light pinching in summer helps maintain a neat shape.
Fertilization Instructions- Apply a balanced fertilizer (e.g., 14-14-14) once in early spring; moderate feeding need. Too much nitrogen in clay can lead to lanky growth and fewer blooms.
