Disanthus cercidifoius is a little known member of the witchhazel family. This redbud hazel has heart-shaped leaves similar to Cercis canadensis (redbud). In summer the leaves are a lustrous dark bluish-green, tuning a kaleidoscope of claret-red, purple and orange in fall. Disanthus cercidifoius should be planted in acid soils in a shady location.
