Forms a massive upright spreading tree with open habit for large areas and parks producing large hard shelled nuts in abundance. Good tree for larger sites and open spaces preferring deep well drained soils but adaptable to almost any site. Note that roots of black walnut contain juglone and are toxic to many plants.
