NATIVE – AKA American elderberry, is a fast-growing deciduous shrub that thrives in moist, well-drained soils and can tolerate a variety of conditions, including clay and sandy soils. Produces fragrant, creamy-white flowers in early summer, followed by clusters of small, dark purple to black berries in late summer to early fall. Flowers attract bees, butterflies and other pollinators. Berries are highly valued for making jams, jellies, and wines, and they provide an essential food source for wildlife.
