This native sunflower thrives in difficult wet shady sites, naturalized areas, and woodland edges in average soil. A larval host for the Silvery Checkerspot and the Painted Lady. Prefers moist soil but can take occasional dryness. Plants form colonies from self-seeding and underground rhizomes. 5' tall with 3' spread.
