Small deciduous tree with an upright, rounded crown. Its simple leaves that turn bronzy red to bright orange to red in fall in the colder zones of its range. Polished reddish brown bark has prominent horizontal lenticels. Rosy-pink, mildly fragrant flowers bloom earlier than other cherries and may be harmed by a late freeze. Attracts bees, butterflies and early emerging pollinators.
