NATIVE - to Ohio and eastern United States. Culms are quite upright and remain evergreen throughout the winter. A running bamboo, if naturalization is not desired, rhizomatous spread may be discouraged via constructing soil barriers or growing plant in a very large plastic pot sunk to the rim. Species name indicates a large size, but, as it will not likely attain the tall heights in Ohio.
