A large shrub or small tree. Fast-growing plant with ferny leaves and fluffy pink fragrant flowerheads that cover the tree in summer make it a garden-worthy plant. Flowers attract butterflies, hummingbirds and other pollinators. Seed pods that resemble flat beans follow the flowers and persist into winter. Care should be used so that seeds from garden plants don't spread.
