Compact, deciduous shrub with scarlet-red blooms that appear in early spring before the foliage emerges. Its spreading growth habit and glossy green leaves provide a lush backdrop through summer. Drought-tolerant once established and thrives in well-drained soil with full sun to part shade. It can be used as a hedge, foundation planting, or accent shrub. Flowers attract bees, butterflies and other pollinators and berries attract birds.
