Upright, rounded habit with strong, wide-angle branches. Moderate growth rate. Generally long-lived; 200-400 year lifespan. Spring flowers are greenish-yellow catkins. Acorns, shiny-brown with light brown cap, are produced at a relatively young age. Fall color can be yellow to orange. Bark is both flaky and furrowed.
