NATIVE - A fast-growing deciduous tree commonly found along stream banks and wet areas. May have single or multiple trunks. It thrives in moist to wet soils and is highly tolerant of flooding. Its narrow, lance-shaped leaves provide light, dappled shade, and its extensive root system helps prevent soil erosion. Valuable for wildlife such as bees and songbirds and is a larval host to multiple butterflies. It is often used in wetland restoration projects.
